Deactivation and account deletion
Section updated: September 15, 2026
These provisions cover Carna Passenger and Carna Driver. Deactivation disables access and signs you out, but retains your account and data and does not submit a deletion request. Uninstalling the app does not delete your account either.
You can request permanent deletion of your account and associated personal data using the form below, even without signing in or reinstalling the app. Starting a request does not require a phone call or separate email. If your account is shared across both apps, we clarify the effect on both during verification.
Submit an account deletion requestRequest, verification and timing
We collect the account type, account phone, optional email, optional reason and deletion confirmation. This information, a reference and the request time are saved in private storage with our hosting provider and displayed in Carna’s administration dashboard, with an email notification where available. Access is limited to authorized personnel. Submitted details alone do not prove ownership; we verify using contact details already associated with the account. Deletion requests are not used for marketing.
We complete deletion within 7 calendar days after verifying account ownership, and notify you when it is complete. Any shorter deadline required by applicable law takes precedence. We start verification promptly; this is not a mandatory waiting period.
A request receipt is not confirmation of deletion. On completion, we send a separate confirmation to a verified contact. For help or to follow up, contact info@carnaapp.com with your reference.
Deletion scope and retention
Deletion covers the account record and associated personal data, including profile and contact information, photos, saved places, location and trip data, and documents associated with a driver account where applicable, subject to legally required retention. The process includes relevant systems and deletion requests to service providers processing that data for us.
Deactivation is not a substitute for deletion. If the law requires specific data to be kept, such as a transaction record subject to a retention obligation, we explain the particular categories, basis, purpose and retention period or criteria to you. Access and use are restricted to that purpose, and the data is deleted when the basis for retention ends. An ongoing trip or outstanding balance does not prevent you from submitting a deletion request.
We retain the deletion request and verification correspondence only as needed to process the request and evidence its handling under applicable obligations; any remaining retention disclosure also covers these records.
